Abstract
The issue of inflammatory diseases of the neck tissues consistently attracts the attention of otolaryngologists due to the persistent frequency of pathology, an increase in the number of severe clinical courses of infection, sometimes with atypical clinical manifestations, as well as the prolonged course of the disease. Facial and neck phlegmons are considered the most severe. They are caused by complex anatomical and topographical features of this area, rapid spread of the inflammatory process into the cellular spaces with the development of mediastinitis and infection generalization.
This article presents data from modern scientific publications regarding the classification, clinic, and treatment of patients with phlegmons of the neck. Patented methods of treatment of phlegmon of the neck, approaches to the appointment of reasonable conservative therapy, taking into account the spectrum of pathogens, are described.
