Abstract

Actuality: Patients with chronic pharyngitis and chronic tonsillitis represent a significant part of the daily practice of otorhinolaryngologists and family medicine doctors around the world.

Aim: To evaluate the efficacy of using a natural complex based on the respiratory probiotic Lactobacillus helveticus MiMlh5 and hyaluronic acid in patients with chronic pharyngitis and chronic tonsillitis.

Materials and methods: Adult patients with chronic pharyngitis (15 persons) and chronic tonsillitis (15 persons) received Lactoangin, which contains the respiratory probiotic Lactobacillus helveticus MiMlh5 and sodium hyaluronate, for 30 days. Clinical and microbiological research methods are used in the evaluation of the treatment result.

Results: At the end of the Lactoangin course, a significant regression of objective and subjective signs of chronic pharyngitis and tonsillitis was observed, as well as an increase in quality of life indicators compared to the initial study. Lactobacillus helveticus MiMlh5 promotes the restoration of the resident microflora of the oropharynx. No cases of side effects of Lactoangin were registered in the study.

Conclusions: The use of Lactoangin in the patients with chronic pharyngitis and chronic tonsillitis promotes the regression of objective and subjective clinical manifestations of the disease and improve the quality of patient’s life. According to the results of a microbiological study, Lactobacillus helveticus MiMlh5 contributes to the development of the displacement of pathogenic microorganisms and the restoration of the resident microflora of the oropharynx.

Keywords: Chronic pharyngitis, chronic tonsillitis, respiratory probiotic, Lactobacillus helveticus, sodium hyaluronate.
