Abstract
An important element of creating a set of words for speech audiometry is the use of the state language, which is the native language of the subject. Each language should have its own vocabulary for monosyllabic audiometry. In Ukraine, there is no developed and recorded material for speech audiometry that consists exclusively of monosyllabic words. Thus, there is a need to create new lists of monosyllabic words in Ukrainian for speech audiometry.
The Department of Otorhinolaryngology of the Bogomolets National Medical University in cooperation with the Laboratory of Clinical Audiology and Vestibulology of the State Institution «O.S. Kolomiychenko Institute of Otorhinolaryngology of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine» (Kyiv) and the Department of Ukrainian Studies and Latin Language of the National University of Pharmacy (Kharkiv) developed a list of one-syllable language tests. In developing the list of words and dividing them into groups, we took into account the complexity of the words, which is determined by the number of consonant sounds, their sound characteristics (voiced, unvoiced and mixed), and their use in spoken language. A studio recording of monosyllabic words in Ukrainian was made in compliance with all the necessary conditions. A man with a baritone tessitura voice was hired as a professional announcer. In the future, it is planned to conduct a study using this test among people with normal hearing and hearing loss of varying degrees (with impairments in different parts of the hearing analyser), and this version of the test may be amended if necessary.
Keywords: language audiometry, language tests, monosyllabic words.
