Abstract
Purpose of the study: Study of everyday limitations in sound perception in people suffering from bilateral chronic sensorineural hearing loss, the resulting deficiencies in daily life and emotional background, and changes in the psychoemotional state of patients while taking the drug Cohleaton® for a month.
Materials and methods: To assess the auditory function of patients with chronic sensorineural hearing loss, we identified three general areas, namely, patient complaints associated with impaired functional abilities of the inner ear, speech intelligibility, spatial and emotional characteristics of the perception of the new quality of hearing. All patients were divided into 2 groups: the first – with 1-2 degrees of hearing loss, the second – with 3-4 degrees of hearing loss. The change in quantitative signs of anxiety and depression was assessed at the beginning and after the end of the full course of therapy.
Results: In the studied patients, a high level of correlation was found between the degree of hearing changes, the level of development of anxiety and depressive state. According to the data of the hospital scale of anxiety and depression, we obtained a significant improvement of both indicators, both in the individuals of group 1 practically to the normal level, and in the second group of patients – to the level of moderate degree, which indicates the restoration of social adaptation of patients with hearing impairment.
Conclusions: After the treatment, a decrease in anxiety and depression levels, an improvement in the psychological background of patients suffering from chronic sensorineural hearing loss were noted. Almost 75% of patients who used Cochleaton® noted a subjective improvement in their general condition, normalization of sleep, memory, a decrease in depression and restoration of the emotional background of everyday life, improving hearing by reducing tinnitus, as evidenced by a significant difference between the indicators before and after treatment.
