Abstract
Mycotic lesions of the maxillary sinus caused by fungi of the genus Aspergillus on paranasal CT show a polymorphic picture and in most cases are not identified during mycological examination. The presented clinical case with encapsulated fungal bodies without filling material confirms the aerogenic theory of the development of fungal rhinosinusitis. The formation of the fungal body occurs in certain stages: from heterogeneous content to encapsulated inclusions. The concept of FESS, which involves adequate opening of the sinus and complete removal of the fungal body and masses around it, is the optimal method of treatment.
